CV

Native of Seoul, South Korea, I am currently pursuing a Ph. D. degree in Musicology at Case Western Reserve University. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Media, Society, and the Arts (summa cum laude), from Purchase College, the State University of New York.

My research interests as a musicologist include nineteenth-century piano music, American rock-'n-roll and popular music, and Japanese- and Korean pop music, with a particular focus on the mediation of the musical experience, the construction of musicianship and listenership, and digital mediation of contemporary music (and online fandom). Outside of the immediate scholarly realm of musicology, I'm fascinated by various topics in academic and casual discourses of media technologies, linguistics, and religion.

As a singer, I currently sing in Case Western Reserve University's Early Music Singers. In the past, I have sung in several choral ensembles including the Concert Choir and the Chamber Singers at Penn State Erie, the Behrend College. Also, as a pianist, keyboardist, and composer, I have been involved in a number of projects, and was a founding member of Universal Mind Entertainment, Co., in Seoul, which specializes in film- and television music.
